Children's Learn to Crochet

Doncaster Remake crochet class for children aged 6-16 years

Market Place

Service Description

Wednesday 27th May, 10am–12pm Ever wanted to learn how to crochet? Join us for a fun, hands‑on workshop where children and their parents learn side‑by‑side to create a small crocheted creature such as a caterpillar, bee, or octopus. No experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to try something new. This two‑hour session is designed as an intergenerational learning experience, with both children and adults actively taking part. Each child attends with a parent or caregiver, and both will learn to hold the hook and yarn, make chains, and build the basic stitches needed to crochet in a spiral. Adults are encouraged to support their child by becoming the extra pair of hands as you learn new skills together. Session Breakdown 10:00–10:15 — Welcome & Introduction Meet the group, explore the materials, and learn how crochet works. 10:15–10:45 — Getting Started Children and parents learn how to hold the hook and yarn, make a foundation chain, and practise the first stitch together. 10:45–11:30 — Building Your Creature Working in pairs, families begin crocheting in a spiral to form the body of their chosen animal. Facilitators provide guidance and hands‑on support. 11:30–12:00 — Finishing Touches & Sharing Add eyes, details, and personality to your creature. Families share what they’ve made and reflect on learning together. Who This Workshop Is For This workshop is aimed at children aged 6–16, each accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
