Learn to Crochet *

Finishing Off Techniques *

Saturday 26 January | 10h00-13h00 | Anne | £25

Learn how to finish off your garments with ease. This course will enable you to get a polished finish to a garment which does justice to the weeks spent knitting the pieces. You will learn mattress stitch and 3-needle cast off, as well as pick up stitches along the neck band.

Bring with you three 4mm needles, a sewing up needle and a pair of scissors. Also you will need to have worked three 10cm/4inch squares of stocking stitch in DK yarn.

 

Textured Textiles – Hand or Machine Embroidery *

In this fun and inspiring workshop you will learn a variety of techniques to add texture to your fabrics and create a cushion panel, bag panel or piece of wall art.  Techniques taught include slashing and distressing fabrics, folding, embellishment, raised stitches and prairie points.

The techniques that you will explore can be completed both with hand and machine embroidery - it’s entirely up to you which you chose or even try a combination of both.  

All materials are included; if there are any fabrics or threads you would like to include in your work please feel free to bring them with you. You will need to bring a basic sewing kit with you including small scissors, needles and a seam ripper if you have one.  If you would like to use machine embroidery you will need to bring your sewing machine, bobbins and ideally a darning or embroidery foot.

Sock it up! **

Saturday 9 February | 10h00-13h00 | Anne | £25

In this masterclass on socks, we will create the perfect sock for you. We will cover how to adapt a basic pattern to your foot size and tension, and look at a variety of strategies for styling the sock from picot cast on, jogless stripes and different toe and heel shapes. You will leave this class with a pattern for your perfect sock and a much better understanding of how the different parts of a sock come together!

You should have a basic knowledge of knitting in the round. Please bring 3.25 DPNs or your preferred needles for 4ply socks.

 

Felt Making for Beginners *

Join Kat and learn how to create a beautiful piece of felt. Using wet felting techniques you will have the opportunity to experiment with colourful merino wool fibres and learn how to craft a lovely woolly piece of fabric.

Wet Felted Bowls, Vessels and Vases*

Cast-on, Cast-off! *

In this masterclass, we’ll be looking at the myriad ways of casting on and off. We will cover a range of different methods of casting on and off, discuss how to match the stretchiness and appearance of each to that of your project, and practice a provisional cast on as well as a decorative picot bind-off.

Yarn will be provided, please bring a pair of 4mm knitting needles and a 4 mm crochet hook.*

 

How to Knit Socks **

For those wanting to expand their knitting arsenal and knit socks.  Learn to cast on in the round on double pointed needles, turn a heel, shape the foot and graft the toe together.  By the end of the day you'll have one very fine hand knitted sock!  (Although this class is suitable for relative beginners, you will already need to know the basic knit and purl stitches).

Entrélac **

Entrelac is a versatile technique for creating a knitted diamond pattern composed of joined blocks of knitting. It looks stunning when worked in variegated yarns or multiple colours. In this workshop, you will learn how to knit triangles and squares, pick up stitches and change colours and you will leave ready to create your own great entrelac knits!

Spend an afternoon crafting adorable needle felted creatures including rabbits, chicks and Easter eggs from silky soft merino wool. You'll learn needle felting techniques to create these cute critters just in time for Easter. You'll take away at least two finished items, but depending on how quickly you work, it may well be more!
